CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY - SUMMER SCHOOL 2024

Summer School Overview
The “environmental, social, and governance” (ESG) movement has been a stone thrown into a pond, and its ripples are transforming many aspects of our economy, our ways of living, and our collective future. While media, policy makers, national legislators and citizens living at any planet latitude are increasingly awakening to the epochal changes still underway, the ESG potentials for a “paradigm shift” have been widely acknowledged in several research areas, including chemistry, economics, engineering, political science, sociology, as well as in the legal field.

The Padova Multidisciplinary Summer School on Corporate Sustainability: ESG is here to stay offers both undergraduate and postgraduate students, matriculated at any Italian or foreign Academic Institution, one week of intensive in-person or online learning experience designed to boost their understanding of the several interconnected ESG issues.

The Padova Multidisciplinary Summer School on Corporate Sustainability has been developed within the framework of the University of Padova’s “Shaping a World Class University” Project, intended to promote and to fund international initiatives of In-Person and Virtual Exchanges and Networking for Padova students and faculty. The Department of Private Law and Critique of Law (DPCD) also sponsored the Summer School.

Partners of the Multidisciplinary Summer School, in addition to all the Academic Institutions involved, are the “Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics Blog” and “ELSA Padova”.

Summer School General Information
The Summer School Program: an Interdisciplinary Experience

The Padova Multidisciplinary Summer School on Corporate Sustainability will take place in Padova at the ground floor of the Beato Pellegrino Building (classroom 7) and online, from the 23rd to the 27th of September 2024.

In order to enhance students’ knowledge competence and awareness on critical aspects on every one’s future, the Padova Summer School on Corporate Sustainability promotes and attempts an holistic approach to the various ESG-related problems, that professors and experts from a wide range of disciplines and Institutions will address from several different perspectives: from corporate and securities laws to IP and contract laws, from business criminal law to tax law. Special attention will be devoted to the many interconnections between AI and ESG issues.

The Summer School – while inviting renewed experts and academics with different backgrounds, approaches and views to confront along common lines – includes presentations dealing with the most recent European Union directives and regulations on ESG-related matters, such as, for example, the recently enacted Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directives (CS3D) the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Green Claims Directive, the SFRD, and more.

A special multidisciplinary session, focusing on some of the most important “E”-related aspects of the ESG triad will conclude this unique five-day, intensive, student-centered, freely accessible learning experience.

The full program is available for download in the PDF leaflet below.
